The Great Hurt

In LIFE AS LARRY: THE GEMINI FILES, The Great Hurt is the name attached to a mystery that appears to reach across history, memory, and identity.

Detective Larry Pretlow begins receiving materials that do not behave as ordinary evidence should. Documents appear new but point toward the Civil War. Audio files arrive without a clear source. Familiar images and phrases surface without explanation.

The investigation raises a larger question:

What happened during The Great Hurt—and why do its traces continue appearing in the present?

The original “Bonnie Blue” recording does not answer that question. Its imagery simply begins to feel increasingly familiar as the investigation develops.

The Bonnie File

Within the story, Detective Pretlow does not experience “Bonnie Blue (You Should Know)” as an ordinary commercial song. To him, it appears as The Bonnie File—one of several unexplained materials associated with the case.

The audience experiences the file through music. The detective encounters it as evidence.
